Getting To Kimberley

Fly from Vancouver: It’s about a 1 ½-hour flight from Vancouver International Airport to Canadian Rockies International Airport (Cranbrook) with Pacific Coastal Airlines, and then about a 20-minute drive west to Kimberley on the Kimberley Hwy/BC-95A.
Fly from Kelowna: It’s about a one-hour flight from Kelowna International Airport to Canadian Rockies International Airport with Pacific Coastal Airlines, and then about a 20-minute drive west to Kimberley on the Kimberley Hwy/BC-95A.
Drive from Calgary: It’s about a 4 ½-hour drive southwest on the Crowsnest Hwy.
Drive from Edmonton: It’s about a seven-hour drive southwest on the AB-2 S and Crowsnest Hwy.
Drive from Lethbridge: It’s about a 3 ½-hour drive west on the Crowsnest Hwy.
Morning – Early morning cycling along Kimberley’s trails
Start your day off by exploring Kimberley’s trails and greenery on two wheels. Rent a mountain bike from Kootenay Mountain Works, a local shop outfitting outdoor enthusiasts with bike and ski gear located along the Platzl – Kimberley’s Bavarian-themed downtown district. Next, head to the Peak to Platzl trail which spans from downtown to the base of Kimberley Alpine Resort. If you’re feeling adventurous, continue to the Round the Mountain (RTM) trail.
Mid-morning – Take a nostalgic train ride
Back at the Platzl, pick up tickets for a scenic ride on the Underground Mining Railway. Ride the rails while hearing about the history of Kimberley and the Sullivan Mine. The railway was originally created as a way to commute between downtown and the ski hill, but it is now a well-cherished landmark in the town.
Lunch – Après-cycle lunch at Grow Tea & Elixir
After a busy morning, stop at Grow Tea & Elixir, an environmentally friendly café serving expertly-crafted elixirs and teas, for a rest and pick-me-up. The café also offers tasty, health-conscious treats like veggie burgers, lentil soup, and polenta. After lunch, check out the many shops along the Platzl.
Afternoon – Walk or ride the Northstar Rails 2 Trails
On bike or foot, check out Northstar Rails 2 Trails, a 28km trail linking Kimberley and Cranbrook. The trail is situated between the Purcell Mountains and the Rocky Mountain Trench, providing spectacular mountain views, forested areas, lakes, and more. Take a detour and visit Marysville Falls viewpoint for a breathtaking view of the waterfall.
Evening – End the day with a locally brewed beer and good food
To cap off the day, visit Over Time Beer Works, Kimberley’s small-batch brewery crafting fresh and unique brews. Afterwards, head around the corner to Pedal & Tap, a restaurant with a cool atmosphere, all-B.C. wine list, and an eclectic mix of menu items.
