Get an early start to the day to catch a spectacular Fernie sunrise and set a tranquil vibe for the rest of the day. After renting standup paddleboards from Mountain High Adventures, head to Maiden Lake, a beautiful area with breathtaking views of the Three Sisters and Mt. Proctor. Paddling along the calm water is the perfect way to clear your mind and start a Zen-filled day in Fernie.
Mid-morning – Invigorate yourself with a bike ride through Fernie’s trails
After catching the sunrise, get outfitted with a rental bike from The Guide’s Hut and set out to explore Fernie’s trail system that weaves throughout the town and surrounding area. Check out Dogwood Trail along Elk River for front row seats to Lizard Range and Mt. Fernie Provincial Park. You could easily sit here and take in the views all day long.
Afternoon – Get your Zen on at Essential Yoga Studio
Continuing along the trail, you will reach Essential Yoga Studio, Fernie’s original yoga practice. Relax and enjoy a slow and calming yoga flow to stretch and unwind after your bike ride. The friendly and cosy studio offers several classes throughout the day Monday – Saturday.
Mid-afternoon – Relax and recharge at Spa 901
Keep riding that post-yoga high as you head to Spa 901 to continue ultimate relaxation. The spa was originally a schoolhouse in 1908 and has been renovated with modern amenities to become the Kootenay’s premier spa. Choose from services like a hot stone massage, facials, a soak in the hot tub, and many more, to reach that total state of Zen.
Evening – Catch the sunset on a patio with good food and drink
After a full day of activities, it’s time to eat and drink. Check out Nevados, a lively Latin-inspired restaurant. Nevados is known for its from-scratch tapas and tequila-based cocktails. If you’re just in the mood for a craft cocktail, a few blocks away Valley Social Company, a local favourite coffee shop who can also make a mean drink.
