Some of the world's best snow sculptors converge on SilverStar in February for the annual Vernon Winter Carnival.

Western Canada’s largest winter carnival, over 60 years (or 100+, depending on how you count... ) transforms winter into a feast for the senses, with giant snow sculptures and a Cappadocia-style balloon light up to warm the coldest of winter nights.

Play winter soccer, enjoy tastings and of course, get out skiing and snowboarding during this fun ten days in Vernon.

Cross-country skiing is one of the most Zen winter activities you'll find.

It may sound extreme, with its 55-kilometre signature cross-country ski race, but the Canadian Birkebeiner Ski Festival is for everyone regardless of your nordic prowess.

With fun races starting at 500m, and working up from 2km to 4, 7 and 13km distances, this is a festival about sharing the simple love of sliding on snow. Build your skills as you go, and enjoy one of the most exhilarating and healthy ways to move through your winter.
